An untreated glass panel can be a real struggle to a) get clean and b) to keep clean! Dirt, fat and grime get stuck into the tiny pores of the glass. This leaves unsightly watermarks etched into your glass leaving the glass looking cloudy in appearance… We’re sure you know this well, the tiring feeling of being on your knees scrubbing the shower glass with harsh ‘gas like’ chemicals, just to repeat the same cleaning process a week or two later!
Most people think that a glass surface is naturally perfectly smooth, but looking in a microscope, you can see “rafts and valleys” where dirt particles will get stuck. Eurocoat Glass Protection forms an optically clear skin on the surface, achieving a perfect smoothness, preventing dirt particles to adhere. Instead, the dirt will sit “on top” of the glass and will easily be rinsed off with water and a soft cloth.
Because our product stops dirt penetrating into the glass pores, it also protects your glass from etching (water marks) caused by acid rain, irrigation systems or salt water. Untreated glass can start to look cloudy already a few months to a year if left untreated! Professionals can restore glass up to 90% but treating the glass before the damage, is a great way to protect your investment, keeping it looking like new for years to come.
So how will your cleaning routine look like after you have treated your surface? Remember our treatment is LOW maintenance not NO maintenance, but cleaning will be kept to a minimum still leaving the glass looking mint. You can forget scrubbing with harsh chemicals and replace that with a simple wipe off with a mild detergent and microfiber cloth. Cleaning a shower will be done in a matter of minutes! We have listed our recommended maintenance plans below for different applications:
Showers: Squeegee off the water from the glass once a day or after each shower. (Not essential, but helps with your weekly clean). Once a week, wipe off with a microfiber cloth and mild detergent. Rinse and squeegee off for a perfect result.
Balustrade: If your glass is located by a swimming pool (chorine/saltwater) or an irrigation system, we recommend a regular hose down after each use. Once a month wipe off with a microfiber cloth with mild detergent. Rinse and squeegee off for a perfect result.
Splashback: We recommend an easy clean with soapy water once a week (or as often as needed) to keep it looking brand new.
Marine: A hose down after each outing is recommended. Some boat owners might also like to squeegee off any access water to maintain the finish.
What if I don’t follow this maintenance plan or if the specific conditions would lead to a heavy dirt build up? While this in some cases can shorten the lifetime of the product, in many cases it’s fine and you can easily get rid of the dirt build up by using our non-abrasive scourer pad and a mild detergent to lightly scrub it off.
