As you’re aware by looking at the products on the shelves, there is a rising trend of cleaning your home with a more natural cleaner and less of a harsh chemical… and we’re all for that! It’s not only better for the environment but your body as well! In this article, we will focus on glass surfaces, as that is what makes our hearts sing a little bit more here at Eurocoat.
According to us, the key to avoiding the use of harsh chemicals is to avoid the actual need for them altogether! There’s a number of things you can do to achieve this and we have listed our top ones for you;
If your glass surface is brand new, you’re lucky enough to skip this step.
If your shower, balustrade, splashback or windows already have a dirt build-up or/and watermarks, our best advice is to get rid of them as soon as possible. With a good glass rejuvenator and the right tools, the dirt can be removed and the glass will look like new again and will be so much easier to keep clean from that point. For DIY we recommend our Eurocoat Rejuvenator and Non-Abrasive Scour Pads. The rejuvenator is environmentally safe, yet very efficient. For heavy dirt build-up, we recommend calling one of our Approved Applicators for the best result.
2. Give yourself the best conditions possible
When we are looking at Google searches, we see more people are searching on ‘how to get rid of existing dirt’, rather than how to prevent it from the start. We sometimes feel that this is our core mission, to educate people about how much easier your cleaning (life) will be if you protect your glass surfaces from the beginning (or after a restoration)! Eurocoat Glass Premium is based on German engineered nano-technology that forms a clear skin over the surface, preventing dirt from adhering to the surface. This means dirt particles will sit “on top” of the surface rather than entering into the pores of the glass… thus, being super easy to clean with a simple wipe-off with a microfiber cloth and mild detergent.
One treatment can last up to 5 years on restore glass (10 years on new glass), so the time and money you’ll invest in doing that are well worth it.
3. Stay on top
Whether your glass panels are treated with Eurocoat Glass Premium or not, a healthy maintenance routine is important to maintain the condition of the glass. Using a shower as an example, we recommend a daily squeegee after use and a weekly wipe down with a microfiber cloth and mild detergent.
For an untreated surface, it’s likely that dirt will start to build up over time and that eventually scrubbing will be needed. If that happens, use Eurocoat Rejuvenator and non-abrasive scourer pads to get rid of it.
A treated surface is not maintenance free but the effort is minimal. Our trick to not let the maintenance slip away but to make it super easy for you to maintain. In the shower, put some body soap on a scrubbing glove - a quick wipe down and a rinse and you’re done. (With the perk of having a 1 minute longer nice warm shower while doing it.) If life gets busy and you would end up with a dirt build-up on your treated surface, you can still use Eurocoat Rejuvenator and non-abrasive pads for a quick rub, without damaging the coating.
Summary; Avoiding the need for harsh chemicals from the beginning, is definitely the best way to go. Treating your glass panels with Eurocoat Glass Premium will not only drastically decrease the effort to keep the surface clean, but it will also leave the surface looking like brand new for many years to come.
